The second day of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports saw one of the most thrilling match of the Pan-India tournament till date as Spicer Higher Secondary School took on City International School in the qualifying stages of the Junior Boys category. The match promised to be an entertaining encounter right from the start with Spicer Higher Secondary School scoring through an unfortunate own goal by City International’s Neeraj Prabhu in the 5th minute. However, City international did not let their heads dropped and responded with the equalizer in the 12th minute through their number 10, Shantanu Joshi. Shantanu Joshi soon found the back of the net yet again to give City International School a 2-1 lead in the 16th minute. A bizarre 6 minutes saw Spicer score twice in the 23rd and the 25th minute through Aron Lalpekhtuama and Robertson respectively to take the lead before Neeraj Prabhu made up for his error at the start to bring his side level in the 27th as he got his name on both sides of the score sheet. A thrilling first-half came to an end with the two teams level on 3 goals each.
The action continued in the second half after a much needed breather. The amazing attacking display once again came to the fore as Robertson inspired his team by bagging his 2nd and 3rd goal of the match in the 39th and 41st minute becoming the first hattrick hero in the Pune leg of the tournament. City International were resurgent as they managed to pull a goal back 45th minute through their captain Abhishek Gore. In the end City International fell just short as they went out crashing in the qualifying stage with Spicer Higher Secondary School registering an enthralling victory which qualifies them to the next round.
Other matches on the day saw Pune College of Computer science take on the Garware College of Commerce in the College Boys category where Garware College of Commerce turned out 3-1 victors. Ferguson College were also in action against Trinity College of Engineering & Research where Ferguson College ended up the victors with a comfortable 3-0 scoreline.
