Baner has added another hub to its array with the Delhi based gastro bar for a pulsating experience, Teddy Boy! Popularized by the Beatles and other prominent icons with the Edwardian subculture of TeddyBoy, it now seems immortalized in this innovative bar theme.
Teddy Boy provides a huge floor space, ideal for those parties you’ve wished you had without bumping into someone, along with providing the casual English pub downstairs and a hip terrace bar upstairs. Seasoned with a dash of vintage punk and dollop of retro, Teddy Boy, Pune, is perfect for those who wish for a twisted evening.
Allowing accommodation for about 350 people, this new watering hole lives up to its other promises. Teddy Boy embodies versatility at its best, whether it is for a moonlit evening, or a retro night or even just a dapper rendezvous with your close ones. The ambience is retro at heart with Pop Art influences all around, along with the well dressed staff, staying true to the theme that is Teddy Boy! On arrival, you may take a while to get to your food and beverages, solely due to being awe-struck by the retro vibes.
Teddy Boy checks off all the essentials of a generic night out such as ambience, drinks, being wallet-friendly, food, and the right music for the place. The starters spoil you with choice ranging from Papad Cones to Grilled Herb Prawns, or something with a desi tadka, stealing many hearts like the Aloo Chole Kulcha! Deliciously made with the right amount to serve as starters, the food, especially the Kasundi Chicken will bring about the deadly sin of gluttony.
Complementing the food comes the beautiful drinks, including classics and fusions. Teddy Boy, adding the zest of Dilli Masala, has its own Banta Bar menu, from which the Banta Strawberry Chaat, creating an explosion of flavours that you thought you may not like, steals the show. For those with the sweet cravings, do try the Black Forest Martini for the best of both worlds. The Apple Cinnamon Mojito, however, was an interesting pick as the flavours gave a special kick of its own and was just so delicious. Throughout the consumption, the flavours kept changing intensity, and gave varied results, of which all were fabulous.
Taking the concept of fusion to a notch above, Teddy Boy also serves beer based soup, that was a shocker. We definitely recommend trying one of those. Another key component of Teddy Boy is their versatility, with serving on wooden trays, to chilled martini glasses, and even the traditional banana leaf! The Mutton Kulchas in particular were presented in such a way that you would not want to eat it, as it came on a cute cycle carriage, seeming like a snack for the royals on their nights out.
For those moonlight dinners mentioned above the food served is a perfect mix of fusion and delicious. The Grilled Fish with Strawberry Wine Sauce sure was interesting and a must try. But for those who wish to see familiar dishes, Teddy Boy has the classic Butter Chicken and Rogan Josh that remains just as classic, if not better with a glass of Banta Bubbly Pan. The night doesn’t end there till we’ve had some desserts, and oh boy do the surprise! Chocolate Golgappas served on top of long shot glasses with a white choco sauce. There were many more options, that one cannot resist with a special Tiramisu and the tempting Fried Choco Noodles with Ice Cream! The dandy fever of the Victorian era has spread to Pune with Teddy Boy, focusing more on quality than vanity. For a scintillating night accompanied by innovative fusions, set in a backdrop of retro – pop arena with groovy tunes, Teddy Boy is the place to be!
