Pune’s art lovers have reason to rejoice. Metal Sculptures are the most ancient part of Indian culture and civilization and embracing and encouraging the affinity for modern art forms, Phoenix Marketcity, Pune is currently hosting the ‘Metal Sculpture Exhibition’ till the 7th August 2018.
The exhibition will showcase colossal metal sculptures made by well-known artist Prabhakar Kumar Singh. There will be over 9 sculptures made out of iron, bronze, brass and copper. The series of sculptures – Heads, portrays the human mind’s inner working. The biggest installation will be an 11-foot female head that has been made using 5,000 small iron flowers and leaves.

About the Artist:
Prabhakar Kumar Singh is a freelance artist and sculptor. He holds a gold medal in Fine Arts from the Banaras Hindu University (Varanasi). After completing his master’s degree in stone carving and metal casting, Singh developed an innovative technique using scrap metal and other recycled materials. He has perfected this style over a decade of experimenting with various forms, notably figurative design of human and animals.
His works have been recognized and awarded by Bombay Art Society (Mumbai), All India Fine Arts and Craft Society (New Delhi), and South Central Zone Cultural Centre (Nagpur), among others, and he received the Rising Personalities of India award by Penguin Publishing House (New Delhi). Besides regular exhibitions, Singh’s sculptures are displayed at several public locations and are part of private collections around the country and abroad.
Singh has also contributed to art education: he was a lecturer at Bharati Vidyapeeths College of Fine Arts (Pune) for five years till 2008, has been a visiting faculty at the art direction and production department of the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune) since 2006, and is an assistant professor at the Minerva College of Architecture (Talegaon).
